Hanger Product Holder

A hanger product holder is a printed card or folded carton with a hang hole or hook that carries a product on a retail peg. Custom printed hanger product holders are used for socks, cables, tools, brushes, phone accessories and other small goods that sell from pegboard and slatwall. Brands and distributors buy hanger product holders to give loose items a barcode, a brand face and a fixed place in the aisle. Ask about wholesale hanger product holders for multi-store rollouts, printed with your logo on both sides. Buy now or request a quote.

A hanger product holder is a piece of printed paperboard, either a flat card or a folded carton, with a hang hole or hook at the top so a product can be displayed on a retail peg. It holds the item, carries the branding and barcode, and keeps the product facing the shopper. Stores use them for small goods that would otherwise sit loose in a bin.

What Is a Hanger Product Holder Used For?

It is used to turn a loose item into a peg-ready retail unit. Typical products include:

  • Socks, gloves, ties, belts and hair accessories
  • Charging cables, earbuds, phone cases and screen protectors
  • Paint brushes, drill bits, tape measures and hand tools
  • Kitchen gadgets, utensils and cleaning tools
  • Fishing lures, golf accessories and pet toys
  • Stationery, craft supplies and party goods

Hardware stores, pharmacies, supermarkets, convenience stores and dollar stores all merchandise heavily on pegs, because pegged products use vertical wall space and stay organized. If your retail buyer has asked for “peggable” packaging, this is what they mean.

Which Structure Do You Need?

The structure depends on how the product attaches.

Flat Header Cards

A single printed card with a hang hole. The product is tied, clipped, stapled or slotted to it. Cable ties through two small holes hold tools; a pair of slits holds a hair clip or earrings.

Fold-Over Hangers

A card folded in half over the top of the product or over a clear bag, then stapled or glued. Folding doubles the board at the hang hole, which is where a holder is most likely to tear.

Sock and Garment Wraps

A band that wraps around folded socks or textiles and rises into a hook or header. Many use a built-in paperboard hook in place of a separate metal or molded one.

Hanging Trays and Cartons

A shallow carton or open-front tray with an extended back panel and hang hole. Choose it for heavier or boxed items that need a floor under them. For fully enclosed products, hanging tab boxes do the same job with a closed carton.

Hang Hole Styles: Round, Euro Slot or Hook?

Match the hole to the store’s fixtures. Three styles cover almost every display.

  • Round hole: a simple punched circle. It fits single-prong pegs and is the easiest to load, but the pack can swing.
  • Euro slot: the wide slot with a raised center, sometimes called a sombrero hole. It fits both single and double-prong pegs and keeps the pack level, so it is the default for most retailers.
  • Die-cut hook: an open J-shaped hook formed in the board. Staff can hang it over a rail or peg without threading it on from the end, which suits socks and apparel bars.

If you sell through a chain, ask the buyer for their fixture guide. Some specify the hole style and the distance from the top edge of the card to the hole.

How Much Weight Can It Hold?

A hanger holds as much as the board around the hole allows. The stress is concentrated in a small area above the hang hole, so that is the part to strengthen. Heavier paperboard, a fold-over double layer, or a reinforcing patch behind the hole all raise the load it can carry. Kraft board has long fibers and resists tearing well. For tools and other dense products, an E-flute corrugated back panel is the safer choice.

Tell us the product weight and we will recommend the board. A pack that survives the first hang also has to survive shoppers pulling the front item off a full peg, again and again.

How Do You Size the Holder for a Peg Wall?

Size it from the product outward, then check it against the fixture.

  1. Measure the product’s width, height and depth as it will hang.
  2. Add a margin on each side so the holder frames the product and neighboring packs do not overlap.
  3. Add header height above the product for the hang hole, logo and product name. Keep at least a finger’s width of board above the hole.
  4. Check the depth against the peg length, so you know how many units one peg holds.
  5. Confirm the finished width fits the retailer’s peg spacing.

What Goes on the Front and the Back?

The front sells and the back informs. Put the brand, the product name and the one feature that matters most on the front, large enough to read from the aisle. Leave the product itself visible wherever you can.

The back carries the barcode, instructions, materials, size chart, warnings and country of origin. Keep the barcode flat, unobstructed and away from folds and staples so it scans the first time. Both sides can be printed in CMYK or PMS. If items also need individual price or size markers, matching custom labels and stickers can be printed alongside.

Which Finishes Hold Up on the Sales Floor?

Pegged products get handled constantly, so pick a finish that resists scuffing. Gloss or matte lamination protects print best and adds tear resistance around the hang hole. Aqueous coating is a lighter, economical protective layer. Spot UV, foil stamping and embossing help a premium item stand apart on a crowded wall, and uncoated kraft suits natural and handmade ranges.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a hanger product holder?

It is a printed paperboard card or carton with a hang hole or hook at the top. The product is attached to it or sits inside it, and the whole unit hangs from a retail peg, displaying the brand and barcode to shoppers.

What is a Euro slot?

A Euro slot is a wide hang hole with a raised center, also called a sombrero hole. It fits single and double-prong pegs and keeps the pack hanging level. Most retailers prefer it, so it is the safest default when you are unsure.

Which hang hole should I choose?

Use a Euro slot for general retail, a round hole for simple single-prong pegs, and a die-cut hook for socks and apparel hung over rails. If you supply a chain, follow their fixture guide, which may specify the hole type and position.

How is the product attached to the holder?

It depends on the item. Common methods include slits, cable ties through punched holes, staples, glue, elastic loops, a fold-over card clamped on a bag, or a tray that the product sits in. We design the attachment points into the dieline.

How much weight can a paperboard hanger carry?

Capacity depends on board thickness and how the hang hole is reinforced. Light accessories hang well on standard paperboard, while tools and dense items need heavier board, a doubled header or a corrugated back. Give us the product weight and we will advise.

What board do you use?

Options include SBS paperboard for bright, clean print, kraft paperboard for a natural look and good tear resistance, and E-flute corrugated for heavier products. Thickness is chosen to suit the weight of the item and the size of the card.

Can you print on both sides?

Yes. The front usually carries the brand and product name, and the back carries the barcode, instructions and legal text. Both sides can be printed in CMYK or PMS colors, and the inside of fold-over styles can be printed too.

Can the holder include a built-in hook instead of a hole?

Yes. A J-shaped hook can be die-cut into the board, so no separate metal or molded hook is needed. It suits sock wraps and garment bands. The hook area is reinforced or doubled to cope with repeated hanging.

Will my barcode scan properly?

It will if it is placed on a flat area with enough quiet space around it, away from folds, staples and the hang hole. Send the barcode as vector artwork. We check its position on the proof before anything is printed.

What finishes are available?

Choose from matte or gloss lamination, soft-touch, aqueous coating, spot UV, foil stamping, embossing and debossing. Lamination is worth considering for pegged goods because it resists scuffs and strengthens the board around the hole.

Can you make a holder for an unusual shape?

Yes. Every holder is cut to the product, so curved items, sets and awkward shapes are normal. Send dimensions, photographs or a sample, and we will prepare a dieline with slots or tabs positioned where the product needs support.

Is there a minimum quantity?

Minimums are low. That makes it practical to order for a market stall, a trial in a handful of stores or a seasonal line. Larger wholesale runs are available when you move to a full rollout; just include your quantities when you ask for a quote.

How long will my order take?

The timeline is confirmed on your quote and depends on quantity, board and finishing. Production begins once you approve the digital proof. If you are working to a retailer’s reset date, share it early so the schedule can be planned around it.

What artwork format do you need?

Send PDF, AI or EPS files at 300 DPI in CMYK, laid out on the dieline we provide. Keep text and barcodes clear of the hang hole and folds. Free design support is available if you need the artwork prepared.

How are the holders delivered?

Cards and fold-over hangers are packed flat in cartons, ready for your team or co-packer to attach products. Shipping is free, and your quote will confirm delivery details for your location.
