Custom Printed Cone Sleeve

Cone sleeves are tapered paper wraps that slip over an ice cream cone, waffle cone or crepe so customers can hold it cleanly and your brand is in every photo. A custom printed cone sleeve keeps fingers off the food, catches drips and gives a small scoop shop the look of an established name. Ice cream parlors, gelaterias, creperies, food trucks and event caterers buy cone sleeves in volume and go through them quickly. Order cone sleeves with your logo in any size, or ask about wholesale cone sleeves for multiple locations. Buy now or request a quote.

A custom printed cone sleeve is a tapered paper wrap that fits around an ice cream cone, waffle cone, crepe or similar handheld food. It gives the customer a clean, dry place to hold, catches drips and crumbs, and puts the shop’s branding on every serving. Sleeves are supplied nested in stacks, ready to slip onto a cone at the counter.

Why Do Ice Cream Shops Use Cone Sleeves?

Shops use cone sleeves because they solve three counter problems at once: hygiene, mess and branding.

Staff can pick up and hand over a cone by the sleeve without touching the wafer. The paper absorbs the first drips before they reach the customer’s hand, and it holds a cracked cone together long enough to be eaten. And because people photograph ice cream constantly, a printed sleeve places your name and colors in pictures you did not have to pay for.

Sleeves also speed up service. A cone in a sleeve can stand in a cone holder while the next order is scooped, which is harder with a bare cone and a napkin.

What Can You Serve in a Cone Sleeve?

Almost any food shaped like a cone or rolled into one.

  • Waffle and sugar cones: the classic use, in sizes from kids’ cones to large waffle cones.
  • Soft-serve and wafer cones: including flat-bottomed cake cones with a short sleeve.
  • Crepes: a wider, longer sleeve holds a folded crepe and its filling.
  • Bubble waffles: open, wide-mouthed cones for egg waffles with toppings.
  • Churros, fries and popcorn: paper cones with a closed tip that work as the container itself.
  • Chimney cakes, wraps and kebab rolls: tall sleeves for street food.
  • Pre-filled frozen cones: full-wrap sleeves, often with a matching paper lid.

Shops that also sell hot drinks often print their custom coffee cups in the same artwork so the whole counter matches.

How Do You Size a Cone Sleeve?

Size the sleeve from three measurements of the cone it has to fit:

  1. Top diameter: across the cone at the point where the sleeve will end.
  2. Slant length: from the tip up the side of the cone to where you want the sleeve to stop.
  3. Tip: whether the cone ends in a point or a flat base, and how wide that base is.

A sleeve normally covers the lower half to two-thirds of the cone, leaving the rim and the scoop visible. It should slide on easily and stop firmly without crushing the wafer. Cones vary between bakeries, so the most reliable method is to mail us a few of the actual cones you use. If you stock several cone sizes, you may need more than one sleeve size, or one sleeve designed to fit the two closest sizes.

Which Paper and Coating Should You Choose?

Choose the paper by how wet or greasy the food is and whether the sleeve touches it directly.

Uncoated and Kraft Paper

Light white or brown kraft paper is the standard for dry wafer and waffle cones. It grips well, absorbs small drips and has a natural, artisan look.

Grease-Resistant Paper

Crepes, churros, fries and chimney cakes carry butter, oil or sugar syrup. A grease-resistant stock stops stains showing through the print.

Foil-Laminated Paper

Pre-filled frozen cones are usually wrapped in paper laminated to aluminum foil, which handles freezer moisture and peels away cleanly.

Because sleeves are used with food, tell us exactly how yours will be used so we can recommend a suitable paper, ink and coating. If your local health rules set specific requirements for food-contact packaging, share them with your quote request.

Sleeve Styles: Open Tip, Closed Tip or Full Wrap

There are three common constructions. An open-tip sleeve is a glued band open at both ends; it is the lightest and nests tightly. A closed-tip sleeve comes to a point or a folded base, so melted ice cream cannot drip from the bottom, and it doubles as a container for fries or popcorn. A full wrap covers the entire cone and is torn away by the customer, sometimes along a perforated strip.

For scoop shops, an open-tip or closed-tip sleeve is usually the right pick. Full wraps belong to packaged, frozen products.

How Do You Design Artwork for a Cone Shape?

Design on the curved template, not on a rectangle. A cone sleeve is cut as a fan-shaped arc, so straight lines of text bend when the sleeve is rolled. We supply the dieline, and artwork is arranged along the arc so it reads level on the finished cone.

A few practical points:

  • Place the logo on the panel opposite the glue seam and repeat it, so it shows whichever way the cone is held.
  • Keep important details out of the bottom inch, where a hand covers them.
  • Use one or two strong colors. Small sleeves reward simple, bold designs.
  • Add a social handle or a short line near the top edge, where cameras catch it.

We print in CMYK and PMS. Send artwork as PDF, AI or EPS at 300 DPI in CMYK, or use our free design support to adapt your logo to the template. Seasonal flavors and events can be marked with custom labels and stickers on a house-brand sleeve, which saves a separate print run.

Storage and Counter Tips

Cone sleeves arrive nested in stacks, which take up little room. Keep them in their carton in a dry place, since paper picks up humidity near dishwashers and freezers. At the counter, stand a stack point-down in a dispenser or cup so staff can pull one with a single hand. Some shops pre-sleeve a row of cones before a rush.

If you serve sundaes, pastries or take-home packs as well, our custom food boxes can be printed to match.

How Do You Order Cone Sleeves From Boxify Now?

Ordering takes a few steps. Send your cone measurements or samples, the quantity, the paper you prefer and your artwork or logo. We return a quote confirming price, timeline and free shipping, with delivery details for your location. You then receive a digital proof and mockup of the printed cone sleeve to approve before production. Minimums are low and custom sizes are standard, with no die or plate charges.

Give every cone a clean handle and a branded face. Buy custom printed cone sleeves online or request a quote, and send us a cone so we can get the fit right.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a cone sleeve?

A cone sleeve is a tapered paper wrap that fits around the lower part of an ice cream cone, waffle cone or crepe. It gives the customer a clean grip, catches drips and carries the shop’s printed branding on every serving.

What sizes do cone sleeves come in?

Sleeves are made to fit your cones, from small kids’ cones to large waffle cones and wide crepe cones. We need the top diameter, the slant length and the tip shape. Custom sizes are standard, so you are not limited to stock dimensions.

How do I measure my cone?

Measure across the cone at the height where the sleeve should end, then measure along the side from the tip to that point. Note whether the tip is pointed or flat. Sending a few sample cones is the most accurate method.

Will one sleeve fit different cone brands?

Sometimes. Cones from different bakeries vary in angle and diameter, so a sleeve cut for one may sit too high or too loose on another. If you use two similar cones, send both and we can design a sleeve that fits each acceptably.

What paper are cone sleeves made from?

Common choices are white or brown kraft paper for dry cones, grease-resistant paper for crepes and fried foods, and foil-laminated paper for pre-filled frozen cones. Tell us what you serve and how the sleeve touches it, and we will recommend a stock.

Is the paper suitable for contact with food?

Tell us how the sleeve will be used and we will recommend paper, inks and coatings appropriate for that use. If your local health department sets particular requirements for food-contact packaging, include them with your quote request so they are addressed up front.

Can I print my logo in full color?

Yes. Sleeves are printed in CMYK for full-color designs, and PMS colors can be used when a brand shade needs to be exact. Simple one or two-color designs also work very well on a small, curved surface.

Why does the artwork template look curved?

A cone unrolls into a fan-shaped arc, not a rectangle. Artwork is set along that arc so text and logos appear level once the sleeve is glued into a cone. We supply the template and can place your design on it.

Do the sleeves have an open or closed bottom?

Both are available. Open-tip sleeves are light and nest tightly. Closed-tip sleeves stop drips escaping from the base and can hold fries, popcorn or churros on their own. Tell us which suits your menu when you request a quote.

Can cone sleeves be used for crepes?

Yes. Crepe sleeves are wider and longer than ice cream sleeves, with a larger opening to hold a folded crepe and its filling. Grease-resistant paper is recommended, since butter, chocolate spread and syrup will mark ordinary uncoated paper.

How are the sleeves packed?

They are nested inside one another in stacks and packed in cartons. Nesting keeps their shape and saves space behind the counter. Store them dry, away from steam and freezer condensation, and load a stack point-down into a dispenser for service.

What is the minimum order?

Minimums are low, so a single scoop shop or food truck can order branded sleeves without committing to warehouse quantities. Wholesale volumes are available for multi-site operators and distributors. Share your expected usage and we will quote accordingly.

How long does it take to receive my order?

Your timeline is confirmed on the quote and depends on quantity, paper and print. Production starts after you approve the proof. If you are preparing for a seasonal opening or an event, mention the date when you first contact us.

Do you offer design help?

Yes, design support is free. Send your logo and brand colors, and we will set them on the cone template, repeat the logo around the sleeve and send a digital proof. You can request changes before approving it for print.

Can the sleeves be recycled?

Paper-based packaging is widely recyclable, but local rules vary, and paper soiled with food or laminated to foil is often handled differently. Check your local guidance. Choosing an uncoated paper sleeve keeps disposal as simple as possible for your customers.
